Taking Care of Their Own

Tragedy strikes everyone through out their lives.  Some suffer through more than others.  The Kingdom of Bahrain has had its share.  A tragic story tells of a family that was targeted by terrorists and was injured, along with Bahraini policemen.
But tragedy gives opportunity for humanity and heroism.  His Royal Highness, Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman al Khalifa visited the wounded family and policemen in the hospital to pledge his support to them, and all that are attacked by terrorist groups.  During his visit, HRH the Premier condemned the heinous acts, and called upon government and all to protect each other.  He praised those who defend the Bahraini people, and directed the Interior Ministry to shoulder all treatment costs incurred by policemen, inside and outside of Bahrain.  On top of that, he directed that the family injured is to receive decent housing.

The visit from the Prime Minister boosted the morale of the police force and others defending Bahrain.  It was a true and genuine visit, showing the compassion and concern the Government has for its people.

US Medal of Freedom Recipients 2012

The Medal of Freedom is the highest award that can be given to a civilian in the United States.  The year's recipients are headlined by a former diplomat, a former astronaut, and a legendary musician.


Madeleine Albright was the first woman to be appointed as Secretary of State.  This assignment is the nation's highest diplomatic post.  She was appointed by President Bill Clinton, and sworn in on January 23, 1997.  In her position as Secretary of State, Albright reinforced the U.S.'s alliances; advocated democracy and human rights; and promoted American trade and business, labor and environmental standards abroad.

John Glenn was the third American in space and the first to orbit the Earth.  Glenn served in the United States Marine Corps as a pilot, and was one of seven aviators to be selected by NASA to test fly to Mercury spacecraft, the first to officially exit the mesosphere.  Glenn received the National Space Medal of Honor in 1978, and was inducted into the Astronaut Hall of Fame in 1990.  In 1998 he became the oldest space traveler as he flew on the recently retired Discovery.  Glenn was also a United States Senator from 1974 to 1999.

Bob Dylan is a legendary American singer-songwriter, musician, and artist.  Dylan's popular songs early in his career would become anthems of anti-war and US civil rights.   The Pulitzer Prize jury in 2008 awarded him a special citation for "his profound impact on popular music and American culture, marked by lyrical compositions of extraordinary poetic power."












Albright, Glenn, and Dylan will be honored at a ceremony at The White House.  Congratulations, and thank you for your contributions to the United States of American!

Bahrain Progresses Amid Challenges

The people of Bahrain have lived, and witnessed, a lot his past year and a half.  Dissemination of information has the Bahraini people, and the global community, wondering what is really happening.  However, with all the challenges that the Bahraini government is facing (ie, political reform), members of the Royal Family say that Bahrain is bouncing back and shows great potential in new industries.  The reason for the bounce back is because of the government's efforts of reform, and the strong will of the Bahraini people.
His Highness, Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman al Khalifa, attended the 6th gulfBID and glufInteriors 2012, where he spoke about the importance of the private sector, and its relationship to the success of the government and its reform, informing the exhibitionists in attendance that the government would be committing more funds to the infrastructure, basic services, and housing industries.
His Highness also indirectly referenced the success of the Bahrain F1 Grand Prix, stating that its success was a testament to the vote of confidence from the global community.

And the Winner Is...EVERYONE

The F1 Grand Prix Race held in Bahrain was successful!  German racer Sebastian Vettel was successful!  The people of Bahrain were successful!  In short, EVERYONE WON!
The F1 Bahrain Grand Prix race was very controversial, even before it began.  With recent protests, that unfortunately turned tragic for some, many were frightened to participate in, and attend, the race.  However, when all was said and done, Bahrain would prove to be the true champion of the weekend, shining bright on the global stage.  Over 80,000 people came to participate in the race weekend, and a survey indicated that an overwhelming 77% of Bahraini citizens supported the F1 race.

Vettel, winner of the race, said, "I was not the only winner of the race.  Bahrain also won in triumphing over unrealistic claims..."  It seems very fitting that Sebastian Vettel won the race.  He was one of the few racers that proved to be an outspoken supporter of Bahrain, always believing it to be a safe haven.  Vettel pledged his support, and his car, to Bahrain at the beginning and never looked back.  He was presented with the winning trophy by His Highness, the Crowned Prince.

Bahrain, can now do the same.  After showing the world that it loves its people, and that it's a safe place, Bahrain can "move on with life," continuing down the road of reform.  Hopefully now, the world is support the country.
